This page contains instructions on how to install McAfee VirusScan Total-protection for Small Business onto workstations. Procedure, via Web page... NOTE: Make sure you are logged into Windows as Administrator, or a user that has Administrator rights. 1. Launch Internet Explorer Explorer 2. Goto the PPS web page at www.pps.net.au and click on the link that says "McAfee SecurityCentre Customer Login", which is located in the lower middle section. (Alternately, you can click the following link to go directly to the Your ASAP site... www.mcafeeasap.com/intl/EN/asp_home/myaccount.asp ) 3. Login using the email address that the McAfee was registered to, and your password. (If you don't know your password, then contact us.) 4. Click on the "Install Protection" button near the top left of screen (you may need to scroll up to see it). 5. Click on the "Next" button. 6. Tick the products that you want installed, and click the "Next" button. NOTE: For stand-along computers, we suggest ticking all products, but for PC's that are part of a network, we find that the firewall can cause problems, even when exception rules are created, and so this should be considered. We recommend installing it, but if any network problems are caused as a result, then uninstall the firewall product ONLY, from Control Panel, Add & Remove programs. 7. Click on the link " Install now on this computer". 8. Enter an Email or identifier for the computer (it does not have to be an email address... it can be "Dad's PC" or "Reception Computer" or any other label to make it easy to identify. Click the "Continue" button. 9. Installation will now
commence. NOTE: You
may get several security warning which you will need to accept for the
installation to proceed. This may include... installing an "ActiveX
Control", allowing a "Pop-Up", and even giving permission for the
program to run. Watch the status line towards the top of internet
explorer, as this may give you messages about allowing such controls or
popup's. You may also gett a message asking if you want to "Run" or
"Install", which is ok, just click these options. Once you accept any /
all of these warnings, install will proceed. This may take several
minutes, depending on your internet connection speed. When complete,
you may
have
to reboot. If successful, you will get a message saying so, and often
this message will disappear after a set number of seconds. You should
end up with a little red "M" logo in the system tray, bottom right,
near the clock. You can (and should regularly) right-click on this
logo, and choose "Open Console", to see if the program in functioning
ok, you can click on the "Action Menu", and choose "Product Details" to
see the DAT file creation date, which should never be more
than 1 or 2 days old. If it is, then the
updates are not working and you should contact us for support. You
should also get a weekly email from McAfee, showing the status of your
anti-virus product, including the Creation Date of the DAT files of all the
computers that are protected under your license... if this weekly email is not being received, then there is a problem, so contact us for support. |
